What’s been the biggest influence on your design career?
I first "discovered" what graphic design was in the mid nineties and actually changed majors in college to study graphic design. I remember seeing and picking up a copy of HOW Magazine and not knowing what it was or who it was for. There was a feature in there about the state of magazine design and at the time the whole David Carson movement was in full effect and I was in awe! In college this continued and Carson, Scott Makela, Jennifer Sterling were all influencers. They all were having fun with their work, being experimental and expressive with type. Later I came to appreciate the work of Rand, Lustig, and Saul Bass— again it was that they were expressive and their work was delightful.
